He is a PRINCE of a fellow! He came to GAF through an emergency phone call on Sunday morning, June12. Could we please help a dog who had been dropped off at the emergency clinic in Ocala. He had a badly broken leg and was not doing well.
What we found was an almost three year old brindle boy who had broken his right rear leg badly at a Florida track on June 1st. Due to a series of mis-communications, he never got to where he needed to be and the broken leg festered in a filthy wrap, day after day.
On Monday, June 13 I took him to the orthopedic surgeon we use in Orlando and it was obvious there was no way to save this boys leg. I could smell the stench of rotting flesh all the way to front of the clinic. This boy's life was in danger.
By late Tuesday afternoon, he had his leg amputated and by early Wednesday morning he was hobbling around on three legs, feeling a whole lot better than the day before!! The source of pain and infection was gone!!
The sweetest little greyhound you could ever hope to meet is here at Grey Haven, now a part of the pack and looking forward to finding a very special home of his own!!! He is doing well medically and we are enjoying watching him figure out what life in a home is like and why all the other dogs line up near the pantry door at odd times! :-)
