I was sponsored by Bill and Irene Becker & their greyhound kids during my stay at Grey Haven.

Jack celebrated his 10th birthday in June 2010. He came back to Grey Haven when was returned because his elderly "mother" passed away and there was no one in the family to take him. He could be very shy, but once he trusted you he was fine. His world belonged to the family he lived with.

Update - 1/28/11 We lost our wonderful Jack today. He had been fine until yesterday when he developed a very slight "cough". He didn't eat breakfast this morning (he never left an empty bowl in his life). He was walking funny, like he hurt but he was glad to see me this afternoon and went out with all the boys like he always does.

I took him to the vet and films and ultrasound showed a chest cavity and abdomen filled with fluid. His lungs were not expanding properly and his heartbeat was a mess. I don't think I have ever seen chest films look like that.

It was obvious he was on the brink of major pain and suffering and Jack has had enough of that in his life. He left with his head in my lap and I know his "mom" who passed away last year was there to meet him.

Thank you so much for caring about him. That means a lot to me. He was one of those souls who never really fits in and has such a hard time trusting and loving. He and I had a sweet relationship. He was happy to see me, wanted to be sure I was around and trusted me all the time. I consider that most humbling...and I know he left to go to a better place.
